APRIL 9TH - "!Pero, es mi trabajo!"
So apparently, as more and more newspapers begin to wrap up and close down (enter cliche' here ) due to this economy, most of the employers of these papers are getting slipped the pink... including the cartoonist. Though they draw cartoons about political BS, they are still considered cartoonist.
Wait, so people are being paid to be cartoonists? When did this start and where can I get an application?
Now this is this lame little 'tiff' between print comic artists and now the new, and the even geekier, webcomic artists. There was once a time when print cartoonists laughed at webcomics and everything they stood for.
The internet?!?! Take your fuckin' digital crayons and get back in your time machine, asshole!'
- Print cartoonist, 1998
Now, as print cartoonists are being dropped every few minutes, the web cartoonists are now laughing as they are the ones with 'job security'. Job security... Funny terminology to use in this business. 99% of webcomics, or cartoonists soley featured on the web, are horseshit - though they still seem to turn some kind of profit... so what does that say about me and my comic?
