APRIL 1ST: UNINTENTIONAL APRIL FOOLS JOKE

Posted on Tue, April 1, 2008 at 06:47PM by Registered CommenterPK in | Comments1 Comment

I have to go back quite a way to recall a time when I actually celebrated April 1st's reason for being on the calendar... I think it was my sophomore year in college when I had my roommate call my mother to tell her that I had been hit by a car and was rushed to the hospital and I did not look too good.  She screamed and cried.  Hilarious stuff.

I remember one time in high school when my baseball coach called me up to congratulate me on making the All Area High School Team... it would have been less awful if it were an actual April Fool's joke:

Me:  Hello?

Coach:  Hey Pat, it's Coach Gerhart.

Me:  Hey Coach, what's up?

Coach:  Oh nothing... Hey listen, they announced the All Catholic Team this afternoon.

Me:  Oh yea?  How'd we do...?  Anyone make it?

Coach:  Well, that's why I am calling...  Congratulations son, you made 1st Team.

Me:  Get outta here!  Wow, that's great.  Thank you very much!

Coach:  Of course, you had a hell of a season, Pat.

Me:  Anyone else make it?

Coach:  Yea, it was you, George and Mike.

Me:  Wow, Pat Oruska didn't make it?  He was the best player in the league.

Coach:  Pat Oruska?  Who is this?

Me:  Pat Keegan.

Coach:  Oh... Wow.  Hey, I am real sorry.  I must have dialed the wrong number.

Me:  Oh.

Coach:  Well, seeya at practice tomorrow.  Big game this weekend.
